Olivia Kane is suddenly single and no wedding dress is keeping her from getting trashed on what should have been the happiest day of her life. That wedding dress won't keep her from getting a handsome man to help lick her wounds either. Then Flynn Cross walks in and he just won't let her drown her misery in any old man, he offers up himself. Sure, she once loved him in that little sister type of way that lasts forever, but this is nothing more. Under the sun of the Mexican sky they mix alcohol and passion and ignore the harsh light of reality. They're breaking all the rules, but the rule Flynn broke, that helped tear her wedding apart, might break them as well.

She needed a rebound. That's all he was good for. A classic case of supply and demand. Then they could go their separate ways, itches scratched.

Kate Meader's Tall, Dark, and Texan series happens to be one of my guilty pleasures and the newest installment, One Week to Score, reaffirms why it is. While the setting is less Texas, more white sandy beach, the arrogant Flynn is as Texas male as they come. I love him for it. Miss American Princess Olivia Kane is Southern sweet, meaning she can give as much as she takes, and boy does she give. Her dialogue and inner thoughts were hilarious. These two together are a total riot, a sexy, pile of smut kind of riot to be exact. Over the course of a week they lick their wounds, enjoy one another's bodies, and finally allow their heads to catch up to their hearts. Neither character is perfect, they've got one heck of a past together, and combining their uncontrolled emotions in a honeymoon resort brings it all out.

"I think you're top-shelf. And maybe my opinion's not worth shit, but I'm throwing it out there. You slay me, Liv. Into little pieces. Always have"

I love that Kate Meader's books get right to the point, the minimal background that is needed between the couple is provided as to not make it too insta-love-y. That said, I actually found myself really wanting to know more about these two, especially about their 7 years apart. Even as friends it is clear they both felt a lot, so I had a hard time getting on board that they let 7 years go by and still managed to work beside each other for Olivia's brother and Flynn's best friend and still hold all this animosity. By the way, you can read that story in Taking the Score, it's a good one. I think looking at the reason their friendship died a little more in detail would have been a lot more interesting than Olivia's quick acceptance. It was too easy and I happen to like me some angst!

One Week to Score is a sexy, lighthearted romance. It's short, fast-paced, and features everything you want from a brother's best friend romance. There is a lot of depth to both characters, to the entire story, and I really suggest reading all three novels in the Tall, Dark, and Texan series.
