Release Blitz & Review: Forget Me Not - Willow Winters

Title: Forget Me Not
Author: Willow Winters
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: September 12, 2017

I fell in love with a boy a long time ago.

I was only a small girl.  Scared and frightened, I was taken from my home and held against my will.  His father hurt me, but he protected me and kept me safe as best he could.

Until I left him.

I ran the first chance I got and even though I knew he wasn’t behind me, I didn’t stop. The branches lashed out at me, punishing me for leaving him in the hands of a monster.

I’ve never felt such guilt in my life.

Although I survived, the boy was never found.  I prayed for him to be safe.  I dreamed he’d be alright and come back to me.  Even as a young girl I knew I loved him, but I betrayed him.

Twenty years later, all my wishes came true.

But the boy came back a man.  With a grip strong enough to keep me close and a look in his eyes that warned me to never dare leave him again.   I was his to keep after all.

Twenty years after leaving one hell, I entered another.  Our tale was only just getting started.

It’s dark and twisted.

But that doesn’t make it any less of what it is.

A love story. Our love story.

Review
3.75 Stars
Forget Me Not is more than a romance, the story features dark undertones and has the makings of a psychological thriller. Willow Winters gives readers a hero they want to heal, a heroine to do the job, and a mysterious past that will puzzle till the very end. From the very first page I knew something was just not right and I had so many ideas of which way it would go. Robin, Jay, and John have a childhood that ties them together. Twenty years ago they were locked in an endless cycle of hellish torture, but it only feels like yesterday when they find themselves together once again. All of them are affected by the past, their decisions today are still those of a child stolen from a happy life. They're damaged, but surviving, some more than others. One makes a plan to help them help each other, but it makes them all feel like they're living in the past again.

Maybe this is what I've truly wanted. For him to punish me. For him to forgive me.

I generally enjoyed the premise of Forget Me Not, the characters are fantastic and the psychological aspect was unique. Unfortunately, the details are lacking and I never felt like I truly was a part of the story. I couldn't wrap my heads around the why's and how's, unable to fully grasp how the characters tied together as adults. Even with the twist revealed I never got that a-ha! moment. Though the idea is dark and the relationship between the characters is more taboo than acceptable I never really felt that Forget Me Not was as dark as it could be. Though it is cleverly written, something Willow Winters always does well, it never really met my expectations.

She reminded me so much of Jay. So much of me. So much of what we'd been through.

Forget Me Not is Willow Winter's latest release in a long line of dark, unique novels. It's unexpected and emotional, a story I could never have imagined. Featuring handsome men and a strong heroine, readers will enjoy the journey to the light once they fall into the twisted story of the Little Bird and her Lone Wolf.

Don't leave me. Not here, and not ever.

Author Bio

Willow Winters is so happy to be a USA Today, Wall Street Journal and #1 Contemporary Bestselling Romance Author. She likes her action hot and her bad boys hotter. She certainly doesn’t hold back on either one in her writing!

Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.

In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!
