It’s said you never forget your first.
She was my childhood best friend. We were inseparable. We kept each other's secrets and grew up knowing we would always be there for one another.
In the most devastating moment of our lives, we shared our grief--and found comfort in each other's arms. Somehow, the worst day became the best night.
And then she left.
I've never forgotten her. I've tried but couldn’t. My only consolation is the memory of one perfect night.
Now, ten years later she walks back into my life, a grown, gorgeous woman and I'm ready for a second chance.
The look in her eyes says I'm still what she wants, now I have to convince her to trust me with her heart. I’ll never allow anyone to toy with her again.
I know she still loves me, because true love never dies.

"This is what trouble looks like. It's disguised in a white lace dress with green eyes that shoot all the way across the yard."
I loved the mix of sweet and smut, Prescott Lane really convinces you that a sweet, homely girl can make millions with a vibrator and still be her wholesome self. It's charming and refreshing and all sorts of swoon worthy. I have to hand it to Prescott Lane though, Toying with Her was more than just about romance and the booming sex toy industry. She was authentic in her depictions of a small, Southern religious town, of men, and in the acceptance of others. While Sterling is embracing everyone her parents are busy giving things up to protect her. It was sad, disheartening, and real. At the same time, Sterling has blocked out anyone interested in getting to know her, accustomed to those who want her money and fame, but can't accept the reality. Her parents, their friends, and Rorke do their best to convince her otherwise and that's where the laughter and tears come in. It's so emotional to read a character be broken down and have meaningful dialogue with other characters that lift them up. It was like a movie, something you dream about happening to you, and it makes love so much more than a fairytale, especially for Sterling.
"My heart worries. Worries that for one reason or another, this won't work out. And while it hurt to lose past relationships, this is different."
Toying with Her is a fun release from Prescott Lane, it has all the things about contemporary romance that readers love with a unique twist that will keep you reading. It was impossible to put this book down and when I was finished I had a happy smile on my face. It wasn't what I expected, it was better, and I absolutely recommend reading it.
