Release Blitz and Review: Get Lucky - Lila Monroe

Title: Get Lucky
Author: Lila Monroe
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: May 26, 2016

Blurb

I guess it's true what they say. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
Or at least I hope it stays here. The Romantic Style convention was meant to be a weekend of raucous fun with friends, sun, and enough poolside margaritas to forget about my ex. But now, instead of meeting my fans and signing books, I'm stuck with cocky divorce lawyer Nate Wexler. He's arrogant, infuriating, and I can't keep my hands off of him. Judging by the state of our hotel room, last night was wild. I just wish I could remember it.
A pair of matching tattoos. A cheap wedding veil. Half an empty box of glow in the dark condoms.
What the hell just happened?

What happens when you wake up in a hotel suite next to a gorgeous naked man with absolutely no memory of the past twelve hours?

3.5 Star
Review

Vegas is probably my favorite place to take a weekend trip to; just like Julia does in Get Lucky, you can pretend you are anywhere. Toss in two attitude-filled characters that clearly need to get laid and you get some hilarious moments. Julia, single romance writer, and Nate, single grumpy divorce lawyer, are probably not the match made in heaven you are picturing, but something happens one night in Vegas and they are stuck together until they can sort it out. Both characters have pasts that they aren't quite over and as they team up together to sort out their misadventures they come out of the shells they've hidden themselves in. When the drinks become shots, the night grows from just a bit wild to out of control with parrots, fountains, men in masks, and an Elvis impersonator, too! It was enjoyable to read about their adventures, but even more so to read about them uncovering the feelings they recognized in their alcohol stupor and letting them come to life in the daylight. Toss in some hilarious secondary characters in that bring a whole new dimension to the story and you've got one funny book.

I like humorous books, I really do, but I like them with a touch of reality and reading this book was just a bit over the top. Watching The Hangover as a movie is one thing, but I felt like Get Lucky was a re-telling of it, just with a couple denying their sizzling chemistry. Then there's the characters, I liked everyone but Julia...I know I'm terrible. She was a bit all over the place and her internal dialogue and jokes made it really hard for me to connect to her. Finally, the changing timeline can be really hard to keep track of. Lila Monroe did a great job of time stamping everything and making clear which character POV you were reading from, but it changed so often I forgot where I was.

Get Lucky is a hit among readers, taking readers out of the traditional love stories into a laugh out loud, funny book. The misadventures of Julia and Nate are hot, funny, and a true enjoyment to read.
