Blog Tour & Review: This is Love, Baby - K. Webster

Warning:This is Love, Baby is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes and violence which could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. Terrible, terrible things happen to our poor heroine, so you’ve been properly warned. This story is NOT for everyone.

My life had a plan. Until he invaded it and stole it all away. My captor took me and I became a pawn. His strategy changed and he sent me away to WAR, because money is everything in this world. In my WAR, though, I found peace. I couldn’t help but find love where I least expected it, with a man who lived a battle every day of his life …all inside his head. But then my captor came back for me. Yet, this time, battle lines had been drawn and I was protected. So we thought. Even though my WAR was raging, my captor would fight to the death.
The good guys always win, right? Not always.
All’s fair in love and WAR, right? Not this time.

Review
4 Stars
K. Webster flipped my world upside down with the cliffhanger in This is War, Baby, I couldn't stop talking about it, thinking about it, or writing about it. This was a whole new level of obsession for me, I mean when ARCs started going out I refreshed my Kindle probably 100 times. Thankfully, it finally showed up and I devoured it, then it wrecked my world for a few days. Writing this review is a lot harder than I thought it would be, mostly because it was so good and it was such an ending for these characters I seem to think are part of my life. Seriously, give me War.

The final book in the duet that makes up War & Peace was every bit as dark and as hopeful as I have come to love from K. Webster. Being back in the cabin from This is War, Baby was hard, I knew this book would delve deep into the despair of main character Baylee, but K. Webster nailed it. Without giving everything away, this book answers every question you have left over from book one and also piles on the twists at every turn. Baylee is back in the arms of her captor, she's lost all hope for War, but she hasn't lost hope for her life. I could not get enough of Baylee, she's grown so much since we first met her and is such a great character POV to read from. War, our broken hero, is an unknown and Gabe is as sadistic as ever. Every character's fate is answered, from Baylee's parents to her first boyfriend. The method of reaching answers is intense, suspenseful, and as good a thriller as any I've read. The twists will knock you off your seat, they're insane and it's so hard not to talk about them, but I promised to keep this review spoiler free. However, the tale of love weaved into every page is incredible, there is unwavering commitment.

Now to explain the 4 stars, which is super hard for me to do. I love K. Webster, I loved the first book, but I only liked this one. The way it left me feeling was uncomfortable. Doing what she does best, this book is dark and I wanted to put it down and walk away more than once, but then I kept reading and turning page after page. Then that ending, which is perfect for K. Webster and totally...insane for me! The twists are unending, my emotions were everywhere, and I felt like I knew nothing! It just kept coming at you, punch after punch, and after a little bit I lost hope for the characters myself. Obviously, I kept reading and was totally satisfied in the end and recommend it, but still, it was not at all what I was expecting.

War & Peace was an incredible duet from K. Webster and I would be not at all mad if she decided to keep writing about the characters. If you get the chance and have the guts to dive into the dark pits of despair you must read these books. I am obsessed with War, give me more of that tortured man, and I want to be best friends with Baylee.
Gabe can keep his cucumbers. ;)
